In 1453, he launched the Gyeyujeongnan coup, executing Chief Minister Kim Jong-seo and others, and in 1455 forced his nephew King Danjon to abdicate. He ruled as King Sejo until 1468. King Danjon was exiled and died at age 17. He was posthumously restored to honor in 1698 — 241 years after his death.
